Naturopathic Services in Alberta fall under the Private Healthcare umbrella. The Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) does NOT currently cover naturopathic services in Alberta. NDs in Alberta are regulated under the Health Professions Act together with medical doctors, dentists, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Therefore, as long as your Naturopathic Doctor is a member of the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta (CNDA), most private insurance companies will cover service fees for Naturopathic Doctors under Extended Health Coverage plans. Naturopathic services are also covered by several group plans sponsored by employers, unions and associations.
